Hillman Series Presents Dom Flemons Outdoors on June 12
Dom Flemons

The Hillman Performing Arts Series continues its 2021 season with an outdoor concert featuring Grammy Award-winning folk artist Dom Flemons on Saturday, June 12, at 3 p.m.

Flemons will perform on the loading dock behind the Hillman Center for Performing Arts, with guests seated in the parking lot. The Hillman Center is located on the Shady Side Academy Senior School campus at 423 Fox Chapel Road in Fox Chapel.

General admission tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at www.thehillman.org.

"The American Songster" Dom Flemons returns to the Hillman following his sold-out performance in 2019. With a repertoire of music that covers more than 100 years of American folklore, ballads and tunes, the Grammy Award-winner will perform songs from his 2020 solo album, Prospect Hill: The American Songster Omnibus. He is a songwriter, music scholar, historian and multi-instrumentalist and an expert player on the banjo, fife, guitar, harmonica, jug, percussion, quills and rhythm bones. Prior to his solo career, Flemons co-founded the Carolina Chocolate Drops, who won a Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album in 2010 and are featured in the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Guest seating in the parking lot is on a first-come, first-served basis. Chairs will be provided, or guests may bring their own, and social distancing will be maintained between household groups. Guests may bring their own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. In case of inclement weather, the show will be moved inside to the Hillman Center's Richard E. Rauh Theater and assigned seats will be given. Fully vaccinated guests do not need to wear masks outdoors; however, if the show moves indoors, all guests must wear masks.

The reimagined 2021 Hillman Performing Arts Series includes four weekend afternoon concerts. The series kicked off on May 8 with pianist Robin Spielberg, and after Dom Flemons, the remaining two shows will be back to back on the weekend of June 26-27:
