Shady Side Academy girls' varsity soccer coach Mary Lynch has been named the winner of the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association (PSCA) 2019 W. Gene Davis Memorial Award as the Coach of the Year in the Private/Parochial classification. Lynch will be presented with the award on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, in Harrisburg, Pa., during the PSCA dinner.
This is Lynch's second coach of the year honor in 2019. Previously she was named the United Soccer Coaches East Regional Private/Parochial Coach of the Year.
In 2019, Lynch led the SSA girls soccer team to a 20-2 overall record, the program's fourth WPIAL Class A championship and second-place finish in the PIAA state tournament.
Lynch has been head coach of the SSA girls soccer team since 2013 and also teaches English and history at SSA Senior School.
