The Fox Chapel Farmers Market at Shady Side Academy will open for its eighth season on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. After being displaced for a year due to campus construction, the market returns to its original location in the first parking lot on the SSA Senior School campus at 423 Fox Chapel Road in Fox Chapel, in front of the newly dedicated McIlroy Center for Science and Innovation. The market will be open on Wednesdays from 3:30-6:30 p.m. from June 13-Oct. 24, 2018.

The market features locally sourced, seasonal produce, food and specialty items from area farms, vendors and food trucks, including Shady Side Academy's own SSA Farm. Offerings include fruits and vegetables, flowers and plants, grass-fed beef, fresh honey, pickles and preserves, gourmet baked goods, infused olive oils and vinegar, Italian sauces, small-batch hummus, wood-fired pizza, homemade ice cream, skin care, jewelry, candles and more. It's a great place to enjoy dinner or a snack while playing corn hole and listening to live music on a warm summer afternoon!

In addition to the SSA Farm, market vendors for 2018 include: A&L Sharpening Service, Ash & Kris Mediterranean Food Truck, Barlow Bakes, Chez Lapin, Earth Wheel & Fire Pizza, Enrico Biscotti, Grey Oak Essentials, Hannah's Honey, Hello Hummus, Magnolia on Main, Millie's Homemade Ice Cream, Old Tin Roof Farm, Olive & Marlowe, The Pickled Chef, Pisarcik Greenhouses & Flower Farm, Pittsburgher Highland Farm, Rolling Pepperoni, Santarcangelo Specialties and Small Batch Sauces, and Sturges Orchards.

A unique aspect of the Fox Chapel Farmers Market is that it is managed by Shady Side Academy students. This year's student market managers are juniors Natalie Capretto, Isabella Cavagna and Jonathan Hung. Learn more about the Farmers Market.

The SSA Farm, which has garden plots on all four Shady Side Academy campuses, sells its fresh-picked harvest at the Fox Chapel Farmers Market. Each summer the farm hires student interns to tend the farm, harvest the produce and sell it at the farmers market stand. This year's farm interns are juniors Katherine Hart and Daeja Sanders and sophomores Cameron Casey, Parker Maivald and Molly Skvorak.
