Shady Side Academy alumna and Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank CEO Lisa Scales '78 was the featured guest at Senior School assembly on Monday, April 15, as part of the Alumni Fireside Chat series.
Scales answered questions asked by a student host, junior Molly Svorak, discussing her career path from lawyer to nonprofit CEO, her passion for making a difference in people's lives, the work she does battling hunger and food insecurity, and her school days at Shady Side.
After graduating from SSA, Scales earned a B.A. in social sciences from Seton Hill University and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law. She worked as a lawyer for several years before deciding to make a career change, joining Just Harvest and then the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, rising to become its CEO in 2012.
