Field Hockey Closes History-Making Season in PIAA Semifinals

The Shady Side Academy field hockey team fell to Greenwood, 3-1, after a valiant effort in the PIAA Class 1A Championship on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at at Lower Dauphin Middle School in Hummelstown, Pa. to close out the 2020 season. Photo of the 2020 Field Hockey Team.

Junior Jenny Woodings scored for SSA with two minutes left in the game. Sophomore Thea Conomikes had an amazing night in goal and saved a number of shots from Greenwood, keeping SSA in the game the entire evening.
The team fought hard throughout the game and never gave up.

The team finishes the history-making 2020 season with an 12-2 overall record and the program's third straight WPIAL title, and is the first WPIAL Class 1A field hockey team ever to advance to the PIAA semifinals.

Congratulations to Head Coach Betsy Gorse and the entire team on a phenomenal season!
