Entrepreneur Jon Halpern '10 Speaks to Senior School Students

Jon Halpern '10 at assemblyShady Side Academy alumnus and entrepreneur Jon Halpern '10, president of Pineapple Payments, was the featured guest at Senior School assembly on Friday, Jan. 31, as part of the "Alumni Fireside Chat" series.

Halpern answered questions asked by juniors Renee Long and Bennett Marsh on stage, discussing his career path since graduating from SSA and the ups and downs of being an entrepreneur. Halpern advised students to get involved in practical experiences early, saying there is no better learning than real-world experience.

After the assembly, Halpern visited Tara O'Brien's economics class.

Jon Halpern '10 in Economics ClassAfter graduating from SSA, Halpern earned a B.B.A. in small business management and entrepreneurship from George Washington University, where as a sophomore he and SSA classmate Brian Gross '10 co-founded AthleteTrax, a sports management technology platform. In 2016 AthleteTrax was acquired by Pineapple Payments, a technology company that provides payment platforms and tools for businesses, and Halpern became its president.
