Dr. Deborah Gilboa Speaks to Parents and Students

Dr. Deborah Gilboa

On Wednesday, Jan. 9, parenting and youth development expert Deborah Gilboa, M.D, popularly known as "Doctor G," visited SSA to speak to parents and students.

In the morning, Dr. Gilboa spoke to SSA Country Day, Junior and Middle School students in grades 4-8 at a special assembly. She talked about the power of failure and how it helps kids to learn new things, grow in character and develop resilience.

In the evening, Dr. G spoke to parents about "the expectation gap" between parents and kids, and how parents can safely step back so youth can step up to grow in character, confidence and ability.

A video of Dr. Gilboa's parent presentation is available for SSA parents UNTIL FEB. 9, 2019, on the Parent Education Videos page of the SSA website (parent portal login required). Note: the date restriction is per SSA's contract with the speaker.
