For the second straight year, Shady Side Academy Country Day School held a food drive to benefit the Pressley Ridge Backpack Giveback program, collecting non-perishable food items for students and families who may be struggling to find their next meal. As part of Pressley Ridge's academic curriculum, students pack bags with balanced breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks to ensure families have enough food for the weekend.

The two-week drive was held in December and led by the CDS fifth grade class and School Counselor Claudine Runnette. Students and families brought in donations of peanut butter, oatmeal, snack crackers, fruit cups, single-serving cereal, granola bars, healthy soups, canned meats and vegetables, boxed pasta and macaroni and cheese, boxed instant meals, and more. Runnette delivered the donations to Pressley Ridge on Monday, Dec. 20.

Thank you to the Country Day community for your support and generosity, and congratulations to the fifth grade class on a successful food drive!
