On Tuesday, Oct. 9, the Shady Side Academy boys golf team placed second out of eight teams at the WPIAL Class AAA Team Semifinals at Buffalo Golf Course in Sarver, Pa., to advance to the team finals. Also advancing to the finals were first-place Fox Chapel (369) and third-place Seneca Valley (405). Other teams competing included Blackhawk, Hampton, Mt. Lebanon, Penn Trafford and South Fayette.

The SSA team was led by senior Jas Furher, who shot a 74. Other scores were sophomore Adam Lauer with a 75, junior Brice Delaney with a 78, sophomore Garrett Fuhrer with an 83, sophomore Charles Troutman with an 84 and junior Patrick Walsh with a 90.

There were two semifinal sites, with the top three teams from each site advancing. Central Catholic (366), Pine-Richland (391) and Peters Township (403) advanced out of the other semifinal at Village Green Golf Course in Hickory, Pa.

SSA will compete for the WPIAL Class AAA Boys Golf Team Championship on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. at Cedarbrook Gold Golf Course. Good luck!
