Boys and Girls Soccer Teams Head to WPIAL Playoffs

The Shady Side Academy boys and girls soccer teams have both qualified for the 2020 WPIAL playoffs and will begin first-round play the week of October 26.

Boys Soccer

In the WPIAL Class 2A Boys Soccer Championship, Shady Side will face Hopewell in the first round on Monday, Oct. 26, at 6:30 p.m. at SSA. The SSA boys' team earned the No. 1 seed in the playoffs after finishing the regular season 11-2 overall and winning the Section 2 title with an 11-1 section record. No. 16-seeded Hopewell finished fifth in Section 4 with a 6-7-1 overall and section record. SSA is seeking its third WPIAL 2A boys soccer title, having previously won titles in 2017 and 2018.

Girls Soccer

In the WPIAL Class 2A Girls Soccer Championship, Shady Side will take on Keystone Oaks on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 6:30 p.m. at SSA. The SSA girls' team went undefeated in the regular season with a 10-0 overall and section record, winning the Section 2 title and earning the No. 2 overall seed in the playoffs. No. 15 Keystone Oaks finished the season 5-9 overall and 4-6 in Section 4. SSA is new to Class 2A this year; in 2019 the team won its fourth Class A title and finished as the PIAA runner-up.
