Boys and Girls Soccer Teams Head to WPIAL Playoffs

The Shady Side Academy boys and girls soccer teams have both qualified for the WPIAL playoffs and will begin first-round play Saturday and Monday, respectively.

In the WPIAL Class 2A Boys Soccer Championship, Shady Side will face Waynesburg Central in the first round on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. at Upper St. Clair. The SSA boys' team finished the season 12-3-1 overall and 11-2-1 in the conference, while Waynesburg is 9-8 overall and 8-4 in the conference. In the WPIAL Class 1A Girls Soccer Championship, Shady Side will take on Riverside on Monday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. at Butler. The SSA girls' team is on an 11-game winning streak and finished the regular season 13-1 overall and 8-1 in the conference. Riverside is 8-8 overall and 7-7 in the conference. SSA is seeking its fourth-ever WPIAL 1A girls soccer title (2010, 2013, 2016). Download the WPIAL girls' 1A bracket.

Tickets to both games are $5 for students and $7 for adults at the gate.
