On Tuesday, Dec. 15, author Lauren Tarshis virtually visited Courtney Anderson's fourth and fifth grade library classes at Shady Side Academy Country Day School, and students had the exciting opportunity to ask Tarshis questions about her writing.

Tarshis is the New York Times Bestselling author of the I Survived series, telling stories of young people and their resilience and strength in the midst of unimaginable disasters and times of turmoil. Her latest heart-pounding entry tells the story of two children who battle the terrifying flames of the California wildfires of 2018 and — despite the destruction — find hope in the ashes.

The virtual visit was sponsored by the Pittsburgh Arts & Lecture Words & Pictures Series, which features lectures by acclaimed children's and young adult authors.
