Author and illustrator Jason Chin visited Shady Side Academy's Junior School library on Thursday, Oct. 18. Chin showcased his work through rich and varied presentations to students in grades 1-5. Students at the Junior School and guests from Country Day School listened and learned as Chin showed them the journey of his books from ideas to the hard work of reading, research and repeated drawing, resulting in his beautifully illustrated books.

Highlights of his visit included interactive illustration workshops and slides showing photos of natural wonders and their renditions into wonderful watercolor pictures, especially of his Caldecott Honor book, The Grand Canyon.
