Artist and Baker Jasmine Cho Virtually Visits the Junior School
Local artist, baker and author Jasmine Cho virtually visited with the kindergarten classes at Shady Side Academy Junior School on Friday, May 21. Cho shared the book she wrote and illustrated, Role Models Who Look Like Me: Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders Who Made History. She also shared examples of her cookie art, which features portraits of Asian-American figures as a way to increase representation and raise awareness of Asian-American history and identity.
The kindergarten teacher teams are Amy Kim and Marilyn Martens, and Francine Gardiner and Nick Hammon.
