Academic Prizes Awarded at Senior School Assembly

Four different academic prizes for the 2018-2019 school year were awarded to eight students at Shady Side Academy Senior School's community assembly on Friday, Sept. 6, 2019.

The Instructor's Prize in American History is a book prize is awarded to the student who, while enrolled in the U.S. History course, has completed the research paper that best displays the qualities of scholarship essential for developing competence in the study of history. The 2018-2019 winner was current senior Arusha Nirvan for her paper, The Automobile: A Vehicle for Black Equity.

The John H. Cohen Family Award is a book prize given for general improvement in scholarship, vigor, citizenship and character to a member of the third, fourth and fifth forms. The 2018-2019 recipients were current sophomore Mandy Lin, junior Mark Fire and senior Nina Singh.

Cohen Award Winners

The Princeton Alumni Award is a book prize given by the Princeton Alumni Association of Western Pennsylvania to the student at the head of the class in the third, fourth and fifth forms. The 2018-2019 recipients were current sophomore Braden Crow, junior Raymond Zheng and senior Giri Viswanathan.

Princeton Alumni Award winners

The Alfred C. Dickey Memorial Prize is awarded to that student standing at the head of the school in scholarship. The 2018-2019 recipient was graduate Adam Bozzone '19.
