The Shady Side Academy Senior School Speech and Debate Team had an exceptional showing at the Pine-Richland Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 21, winning three of the four events in which the team competed.
Junior Mathew Long won first place in Congress, senior Nichole Poltinnikov won first place in Lincoln Douglas Debate, and the team of juniors Hari Viswanathan and Andrew Zeng won first place in Parliamentary Debate. In addition, junior Campbell Tucker-Hill and sophomore Kabir Chaudry placed fifth and sophomores Ananda Minutolo and Maanya Goulatia placed sixth in Parliamentary Debate. A total of 16 students represented SSA at the tournament.
