Shady Side Academy sophomore Soren Cooper medaled in two events and SSA swimmers competed in three others at the 2022-2023 PIAA Class 2A Swimming Championships, held March 15-16 at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa.
Cooper finished fourth in the boys' 500 freestyle (4:35.36) and eighth in the 200 freestyle (1:42.98) to earn PIAA medals in both events.
Also competing for the Bulldogs in the state championships were sophomore Ellis Bekman in the girls' 50 yard freestyle, and sophomore Austin Liu, sophomore Jasper Chapman and senior Kevin Johnson who joined Cooper on the boys' 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams. SSA swimmers did not advance out of the preliminary rounds in those three events.
