Registration is now open for 2023 Shady Side Academy Summer Programs! More than 30 different fun, safe, affordable camps and classes are offered for kids entering grades PK-12 on SSA’s Senior, Middle and Junior School campuses in Fox Chapel and Point Breeze.
Programs run from June 12–Aug. 11, 2023, and include day camps, STEAM camps, sports camps, focus camps and summer school classes. Designed with working parents in mind, full-day camps include lunch and free before-care, plus optional paid after-care. Bus transportation is offered to and from Fox Chapel camps from the North Hills and East End neighborhoods.

DAY CAMPS
- East End Explorers (grades PK-2) day camp offers fun, age-appropriate activities for younger campers on the 7-acre SSA Junior School campus in Point Breeze, with full- and half-day options. Campers enjoy water play, outside games, enrichment classes, themed weekly activities and more! Six weekly sessions are offered.
- Day Camp Discovery (grades K-5) takes place on the 130-acre SSA Senior School campus in Fox Chapel. Campers enjoy fun-filled days of swimming, media arts, science, sports, outdoor adventure, theater, arts and crafts, plus competition days and picnic dance parties. Six weekly sessions are offered.
- Camp Ren (grades 6-9) is a day camp designed specifically for older kids and takes place on the 35-acre SSA Middle School campus in Fox Chapel. Campers enjoy greater autonomy and cool activities like robotics, cooking, filmmaking, rocketry, jewelry making and ceramics. Six weekly sessions are offered.
SPORTS CAMPS (grades K-8) are led by SSA coaches and enable kids of all ability levels to learn a new sport or enhance their skills. Weeklong coed camps in tennis (grades K-5), basketball (grades 2-6) and ice hockey (grades K-8) are held at the SSA Senior School athletic complex.
STEAM CAMPS (grades K-8) engage kids in creative, hands-on activities in science, technology and more. Weeklong camps for middle schoolers include Minecraft and Roblox programming and fun in SSA’s Fabrication Lab. Elementary offerings include Minecraft, Mad Science and Codemoji camps.
FOCUS CAMPS (grades K-5) allow kids to focus on a single interest or skill. Weeklong camps in drama, mindfulness, chess, and sports & games are offered.
SUMMER SCHOOL (grades 2-12) offers small classes and individual attention from the area’s finest teachers. Students in grades 2-8 can brush up on math and language arts, and a Stay & Play option allows them to pair summer school and day camp for a full day of learning and fun. High school offerings for grades 9-12 include for-credit courses in art, math and science.
