Professional Theatre Company Works With Senior School Acting Students

In the spring 2023 term, Senior School students in Performing Arts Chair Dek Ingraham's Acting class had the opportunity to work with local theatre professionals to create a piece of devised theatre. Molly Rice and Rusty Thelin, founders and co-artistic directors of the RealTime Interventions interactive theatre company, worked with the small class of six students over the term to create five original scenes inspired by the theme of power dynamics. Their work culminated with a private performance of three scenes for a small audience of faculty and staff during class on May 22, followed by a Q&A.

Students in the class include juniors Sarah Grand and Thompson He, sophomores Sophia Gombos and Arthur Yu, and freshman Rohan Khera and Rodin Shirazian.

RealTime Interventions creates theatrical events and public experiences that depend upon the immediate nature of real time: events that come to life when people come together. Rice is is a playwright, songwriter and experience designer whose work has been produced across the country, and she was a two-time finalist for the O'Neill National Playwrights Conference. Thelin is a director, producer and actor who is a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and Playwrights Horizons Theatre School and has worked with a number of notable theater companies in New York City.

Thank you to Ms. Rice and Mr. Thelin for sharing your expertise with our students!
