The Shady Side Academy Middle School Community Service Committee organized a Valentine's Day basket raffle from Feb. 13-17 to benefit the Pediatric Cardiology and Heart Institute at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, raising a total of $943.
Families were asked to donate items for the baskets by Feb. 9, including craft supplies, games, stationery, Pittsburgh sports merchandise, candy or snacks, gift cards, books and baskets. Members of the Community Service Committee assembled 13 baskets from the donations and sold raffle tickets during lunch periods the week of Feb. 13, and winners were drawn on Friday, Feb. 17.
