College Counseling

The SSA College Counseling Office encourages all students and families to have a restful summer that includes downtime as well as reading a good book! For rising seniors and their families, we hope that the following documents are helpful as you work on college planning this summer:

For all families and students, we suggest that you pick up one of the books on the College Counseling Reading List. We hope that you will find the reflections of other parents, the details of what happens to an application or the motivations of the colleges as they make decisions, both interesting and helpful as you consider and prepare for the college process.

College Counseling Reading List

The best way to reach the College Counseling Office this summer is via email!

ImPACT Testing

SSA will offer ImPACT concussion baseline testing the week of August 8-12, 2016, in the Hunt Hall computer lab. The ImPACT test is mandatory for incoming freshmen, juniors and new Senior School students prior to participation in athletics. Three 45-minute sessions are offered each day with 20 slots per session. Please sign your child up for a time slot prior to the start of school and fall preseason. The test is required to participate in any athletic practice or competition. For students not participating in fall athletics, there will be testing make-up days prior to the winter and spring seasons.

Register for ImPACT testing

Questions? Chris Rose, Head Athletic Trainer, crose@shadysideacademy.org

Cardiovascular Testing

SSA will offer optional cardiovascular testing for Senior School students on Sept. 10 and 11, 2016.

Sudden cardiac arrest often strikes healthy individuals with no prior symptoms, so it is extremely important to be proactive in detecting dangerous heart conditions. Wimbledon Athletics will provide non-invasive EKG, echocardiogram, and vascular ultrasound testing to make sure your child can participate safely in sports.

Registration consists of two steps:

1. Schedule Your Appointment

2. Complete the Paperwork

Visit Wimbledon Health Partners to learn more about the testing and billing process and how to help your student prepare for testing.

If you have any questions, please contact Wimbledon Health Partners at 855- 200-8262 or Chris Rose, Head Athletic Trainer, at crose@shadysideacademy.org
