Summer School
For students entering grades 1-12, Shady Side Academy offers a variety of Summer School courses that meet the interests and needs of students. Courses in visual arts, English/language arts, mathematics, computer science and science are offered. Students entering grades 1-9 may cross-list in Day Camp Discovery or Camp Ren.
Elementary & Middle School Courses
Language arts and mathematics courses for grades 1-8 are structured to meet the needs of the individual students at both the enrichment and developmental levels. Class sizes range from six to 14 children, and are assigned by age and ability. Sixty-minute long periods are typically followed by homework assignments of approximately the same length of time. Study halls are scheduled under the guidance of a teacher or librarian, who is available to tutor the student as needed.

High School Courses
Course offerings include:
- New courses for credit or enrichment:
Courses for a full academic year credit meet for six weeks for half-days, or four weeks for full days. Courses for a one-term credit typically meet for two to three weeks.
- Review or preview courses for academic strengthening;
Flexible courses are offered to focus on particular topics and designed to address students' individual needs and concerns.
- Review courses for credit:
Review courses for credit may be arranged for students not meeting academic requirements. The concerns of the student receive close attention, with the course pace dictated by the material to be covered. Credit for the purpose of making up a failure has been accepted by public and independent schools. Arrangements for credit transfer should be discussed when registering for Summer School. Shady Side Academy does not assume responsibility for credits not transferring.

Tests and Reports
Progress reports are issued at the end of the third and sixth weeks, in addition to weekly teacher reviews. Head of Summer School Mrs. Andrea Benitez receives written interim reports on students not performing satisfactorily, in which case parents are notified, counseling is arranged and tutoring is intensified.
Tuition and Fees
Tuition varies based on type and length of course. See individual course description for costs.
Transportation
