On Tuesday, Aug. 28, Allegheny County Council issued an official Certificate of Recognition to Shady Side Academy sixth grader C.J. Coyne for being selected to sing the national anthem in the major motion picture Batman: The Dark Knight Rises.
C.J. opened the County Council meeting by reciting the pledge of allegiance, after which Councilman Jim Burn presented the certificate to C.J. C.J. thanked the Children's Festival Chorus of Pittsburgh (CFC) for the opportunity to try out for the part, his mother and father for enrolling him in CFC, and his sister Olivia (8th grade) for her support.
The County Council meeting will be televised at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, on Comcast Channel 13 and Armstrong Channel 10.
C.J. also sang the National Anthem at the Pittsburgh Steelers preseason game on Sunday, Aug. 19.
