Financial Aid and Named scholarships
We understand and appreciate the financial commitment families undertake in deciding to send their children to Shady Side Academy. And although paying for education is first and foremost the responsibility of a family, we devote significant funds each year to a financial aid budget that helps to assist families. In turn, our school community benefits by attracting gifted students that otherwise would not have been able to attend.
Need-based financial assistance is available for students in grades PK-12, and approximately 19 percent of Shady Side Academy students receive financial aid. In this current school year, we have awarded over $2.9 million to 170 students. This equates to an average grant of about $17,000 per recipient.
Financial aid funds are limited; consequently, acceptance to the Academy does not ensure that financial aid will be awarded. New families who feel that they may qualify for assistance are encouraged to complete the “Financial Aid Interest Card” in the admissions packet. Completing the form indicates to the school that you are considering applying for financial aid. Returning families new to financial aid should inquire about aid in the business office by contacting Abby Bodenlos at 412-968-3132 or abodenlos@shadysideacademy.org.
