The Shady Side students, along with students from the Homewood YMCA Lighthouse Project, assisted Kyle Holbrook of KH designs and other local artists in painting the mural, which represents the 22 countries participating in the G-20 Summit in Pittsburgh on Sept. 24 and 25.  The 200-foot long temporary mural is located on the former County Jail Annex site at the corner of Fourth Ave. and Ross St. downtown. The project was organized by Allegheny County Special Events.

Art teacher Tony Goodwin accompanied the students, who included Alexandra Koi, Ben Ross, Benjamin Cohen, Cassandra Guerin, Chelsea Dickinson, Delia Loughrey, Elisa Borrero, Elsa Hellberg, Francis Nederlof, Greg Hardie, Hannah Rullo, Jemila Adoki, Joel McCullough, Lynn Nguyen, Michelle Park, Rafaella Fontes and Shannon Achille.
