Welcome to Mr. Stern's Third Grade

Third Grade Overview:
In Third Grade we will work together, play together and learn together as we take our minds on historical travels to the Colonial Times, the Westward Movement and throughout the United States. We will read together, as we enjoy three class novels, (Ramona Quimby, Age 8, A Lion to Guard Us, & Grasshopper Summer). Also, we will problem solve together as we focus on many Math themes throughout the year, including, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, graphing, money, measurement, etc. Throughout the entire year, one of our main goals will be growing together as much more responsible and organized students. Nothing but Teamwork in Third Grade!

Teacher Bio:
My name is Daniel Stern, and I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg in 2005 with a BA in English, and also from Duquesne University in 2008 with a M.S.Ed in Elementary Education. I am thrilled and eager to implement new ideas to improve my classroom and the student's experiences! Looking back on my short time here at the Jr. School, I've played many roles: After-School Discovery Director; Coordinator of the Publishing Center; Fourth & Fifth Grade Physical Education; and Day Camp Discovery Director. Currently I am a member of the Senior School Residential Life community and serve as the Head Dorm Parent of the Croft House. Outside of school, I enjoy playing soccer, hiking, and spending time with my wife Katie and our dog Murray.
