Welcome to Fifth Grade Humanities at Shady Side Academy Junior School
Teacher Biography: Lisa Anselmo
I graduated in 1985 from Penn State University with a BA in General Arts and Science. I worked for the Procter and Gamble Company for six years after college as a Unit Manager in the areas of sales and advertising. I left the work force to be a full-time mother and I kept very busy raising my five children. After all my children were in full- time school, I too returned to school and began working on my Master of Arts in Teaching degree at Chatham. I received my degree in 2006 and began working at Shady Side in the fall of 2006. I spent one year in Kindergarten and then five years in second grade before moving to my present teaching position in 5th grade. My husband Michael and I and our five children Kaitlin, Julia, Grace, Michael and Emma live in Shadyside. My eldest daughter graduated from Penn State and is a teacher. Two more daughers and my son currently attend Penn State, and my youngest daughter is in high school.
I truly love teaching and look forward to coming into to my classroom each and every day! I am really looking forward to teaching a brand new Humanities curriculum, as well as serving as a fifth grade advisor. This year we will be focusing on the Middle Ages in Europe, the Rise of Islam, and some aspects of dynastic China. Please feel free to stop by and visit my busy classroom!
