The Campus Experience
The Senior School experience is an all-inclusive one that engages students throughout the entire day. Students start at 8:15 a.m., and they participate in a variety of activities until late in the afternoon or early evening. From the classroom to the art studio and the stage, from the playing field to the dorm (for boarding students), students and teachers share a common experience that leads to close student/faculty relationships.
In every location on campus, dedicated faculty members work to create an interconnected experience that helps students develop into the people they hope to be. Research shows that students benefit greatly from being part of a thoughtful, academic community, and the Senior School faculty and staff work to create such an environment every day.
The slide show on this page gives you a glimpse of our unique campus setting, which is much like that of a small college. This environment allows students to learn how to navigate and manage on the secondary school level preparing them for when they matriculate to a college or university setting.
To see how the Shady Side Academy experience would support your child's learning, we encourage you to visit and see our community in action. You will find engaged, well-connected students committed to learning and growing in a diverse, inclusive community.
