Eastern European folk music comes alive on stage in a kaleidoscope of sight and sound!
Meet America’s longest-running multicultural song and dance company, the Tamburitzans! Dedicated to the preservation and celebration of Eastern European folk music, their performance is a carousel of style and color from the first note to the final stomp.
The stage sways with songs in different languages and dialects. Folk instruments such as the bandura, tambura, gadulka and cimbalom are plucked, picked, bowed and hammered. Dancers perform articulate footwork in hundreds of styles. New York Times dance critic Jack Anderson noted how the performers “display not merely their athletic prowess, but their deep love of dancing.”
Costuming alone is incentive enough see the Tamburitzans. Performers wear over 8,000 costume pieces that have been meticulously researched for authenticity, contributing to an exciting show that is “unique in all the world.”
