Shady Side Academy’s new Pre-Kindergarten opens full with
20 students

We are pleased to welcome 20 students into the Class of 2021! After much thoughtful planning and a year of construction, Shady Side Academy opened with full enrollment in its new Pre-K building on the Junior School campus this August.

The building is specifically designed to meet the needs our youngest students. Click here if you would like to see photos of our opening event. Surrounding the new building is a wonderful outdoor space which consists of a garden, brand new playground, sandbox, and covered porch for less than perfect days. Our students will also have the opportunity to use the main school building for library, physical education, and will join our weekly assemblies. We are so pleased and grateful to all who worked to make this a wonderful beginning for our newest and youngest students.

Program Goals
The goals of the pre-k program at Shady Side are to meet each child's intellectual, social, emotional and physical needs; to provide developmentally appropriate activities based on each student's unique learning style and ability; to provide a base of experiences upon which each child can build; to promote a love of learning through positive experiences; and to develop each child's positive self-image.

Our students are taught and cared for by two certified, early childhood teachers and an intern who joins them daily. Click here if you would like a peak at the pre-k schedule, which includes music and Spanish.

Program Information
We offer both a full, half and extended day schedules:

Half Day	8:35 AM – 12:30 PM	Monday - Friday
Full Day	8:35 AM – 3:20 PM	Monday - Friday
Extended Day	7:30 AM – 6:00 PM	Monday - Friday

Transportation and Lunches
Transportation must be provided by the parents.
For students in the Full Day program, lunch may be carried to school or purchased daily.
