Dedicated in 2012, Michael J. Farrell Stadium is a multipurpose stadium that is home to SSA's football, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, and track and field teams. The stadium includes McKelvy Field (an artificial turf surface), the Posner eight-lane all-weather track, jump pits, home and away grandstands, a press box, and an entrance plaza with ticket and concession booths. State-of-the-art stadium lighting fixtures allow teams to play after dark and provide the perfect "Friday Night Lights" setting.
Home to SSA's ice hockey teams, the Roy McKnight Hockey Center features an NHL-sized ice surface and is regularly regarded as one of the best regulation surfaces in Western Pennsylvania. Having our own on-campus arena means SSA hockey teams have priority ice time for afternoon practices and home games – no fighting for ice time at a community rink halfway across town! SSA's hockey teams enjoy newly renovated boys and girls locker rooms, a video classroom and weight room, all housed within the center. The facility also has two scoreboards, an elite sound system and visiting locker rooms. The center has balcony seating for up to 600 hockey fans.
In the warm weather, after the ice is melted, the center serves as a venue for large school and community events such as Middle School Closing Exercises and the annual Untucked Music Festival.
Mellon Gymnasium is home to the SSA boys and girls basketball teams. The gym's Peter Sauer ’95 Court is named in honor of the late SSA alumnus and Stanford basketball star. It seats up to 600 fans and has six practice hoops. The building also houses Mellon Pool (see above) and the SSA Athletic Department Offices.
Curry Gymnasium is adjacent to Mellon Gymnasium and is used by the entire community for almost any indoor activity, from practices to science experiments. The gym includes bleachers that seat 250 and eight practice hoops. The building is also home to the SSA athletic training office.
Known around campus as "the far fields," multiple grass fields sit on the edge of the Senior School campus off Squaw Run Road East, just down the road from the Middle School campus. The fields are used by lacrosse, field hockey and soccer teams for practices and games, and include bleachers for fans.
Middle School Campus
The SSA Middle School campus in Fox Chapel features a gymnasium and two grass fields, which are used for athletic practices and games, as well as PE classes and school events. The gym is home to the Middle School boys and girls basketball teams and has six hoops and retractable bleachers. The grass fields include one practice field and one regulation field for soccer and lacrosse practices and games.
