Arts Facilities

Each of Shady Side's campuses offers dedicated arts spaces. The Country Day, Junior and Middle Schools each have a visual arts room, music rooms and a performance stage. On the Senior School campus, two unique facilities provide older students with exceptional spaces to explore and develop their artistic talents. These facilities are used by younger students as well for various performances and exhibits.

Hillman Center for Performing Arts

Hillman Center for Performing Arts at Shady Side Academy

The Hillman Center for Performing Arts, located on the Senior School campus, is Shady Side Academy's primary performing arts classroom. As a teaching, learning and student performance space, the Hillman Center offers current students a chance to discover and nurture their talents as performers. The facility includes a 650-seat main theater, a black box theater, band and choir rooms, dressing rooms, green room and more. Several Senior and Middle School concerts and performances are held here each year, and Junior School students visit the Hillman to enjoy performances by professional performing arts groups. The annual Hillman Performing Arts Series brings professional performers to campus each year for shows that are open to the public. Visit the Hillman Center website to learn more.
