Overview |
| This course is intended to introduce students to a variety of poetic forms through our use of the book The Making of a Poem: A Norton Anthology of Poetic Forms , by Mark Strand and Eavan Boland. By examining various verse forms, we will consider how each form works, how these forms can both limit and liberate the poet, and how the form serves to illuminate the poem's subject. Students will be required to complete a class journal, several major writing assignments, and a final exam or project. |
