Latin IV/V: In rotating years the class
will translate selections from Ovid's
Metamorphoses and Amores as well as selections
from Catullus
(interested students may prepare for the Latin Literature AP)
or Vergil's Aeneid (for which there
is also an AP available). As well as the historical and political
context of our authors, we will continue in the study of the mechanics
of poetry. Occasional units on culture, history, and etymology
may be included. Tests are given every three to four weeks, vocabulary
quizzes bi-weekly. Homework (@ 40 minutes per night) will be checked
regularly at the teacher's discretion.
