Students either work with the class mentor to create a personalized exercise
program for general fitness or use a program approved by a Shady Side
varsity coach to prepare for an upcoming sports season. This program will
stress the development of muscular strength and coordination, cardiovascular
conditioning, and flexibility. This class meets Monday through Friday
from 3:45 until 5:15 . Students are required to attend at least three
hours per week throughout the course of the term. The fall program begins
on Monday September 10, 2007 and will end on Tuesday, November 6, 2007
( ˜ 38 days ). Open to all juniors and seniors who are not
currently playing a sport.
You are required to attend at least 3 hours per week
and a minimum of 30 hours during term 1. Interims
are sent once every two weeks for anyone that is below the current
expected hours.
You may only sign yourself in and out . Any student
in violation will be sent to the Dean's office and may result in removal
from the group. The sign-in book will arrive with Mr. Fularz or Ms.
Williams. You may not sign in until one of them shows up. You may
not sign in before 3:45 , and out after 5:15 .
You must sign in and out using the exact time .
Mr. Fularz will do the rounding. Signing in or out with the incorrect
time will result in a warning and you potentially being removed from
the group.
Safety is my main concern. Unsafe behavior will not be tolerated
and you will be removed from the group.
Honesty is expected . You may leave the workout
area to run or do another acceptable athletic activity if you log
where you are going on the sign-in sheet. Return to the workout area
when you complete that activity. If you are found doing something
other than what you are logged as doing or leave the workout area
without signing out, then you may be removed from the group without
a warning.
The workout area will not be open on days that there is no school
and days that there are faculty meetings (Sept. 3, 6, 13 – Oct. 16,
24 – Nov. 7)
