Assignments:

for Tuesday, 11/25 know definitions of CLAUSE, INDEPENDENT CLAUSE, SUBORDINATE CLAUSE, ADJECTIVE CLAUSE, ADVERB CLAUSE.  Know the five relative pronouns and the twenty-four subordinating conjunctions.  BRING FOOD TO SHARE FOR BOOK FAIR BOOK DAY!  Reminder:  Grammar Test on December 15 and 16th.  Ask your questions now!

for Monday, 12/1:  bring your approved mystery book to class; core reading - 80 pages; If you are reading your mystery book, don't forget to track WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, HOW, and maybe WHY in your idea book.  Make PREDICTIONS and think about RED HERRINGS; possible reading log in class. 

for Tuesday, 12/2:  Review for Wednesday's clause quiz.  Know definitions for clause, independent clause, subordinate clause, adjective clause, adverb clause, relative pronoun, subordinating conjunction.  Know the five relative pronouns, twenty-four subordinating conjunctions, and five words that can be both prepositions and subordinating conjunctions.  Be able to make sentences with all types of clauses.  Remember the omitted "that."  Be able to indentify these forms in an excerpt of literature.

for Wednesday, 12/3:  Clause quiz.  BRING MYSTERY BOOK TO CLASS.  Without your mystery book, you will not be able to complete the quiz.

for Thursday, 12/4:  Core reading - begin mystery book if you haven't started it. 

for Friday, 12/5: grammar workbook, pp. 129-131.  Bring Everyday Words to class.  Parent signature on mystery progress letter.  Bibliographic record due 12/10. Bring mystery book to class.

for Monday, 12/8:  Core reading - mystery book.  Idea book completed using mystery book format and reading log if required.  Bibliographic record due 12/10.

for Tuesday, 12/9:  grammar workbook, 132-133; Bibliographic record due 12/10

for Wednesday, 12/10: Bibliographic record due 12/10; grammar workbook, pp. 134-135;

for Thursday, 12/11: know terms for grammar test; make sentences using the grammatical forms

for Friday, 12/12: review for grammar test

for Monday, 12/15: GRAMMAR TEST: definitions, answer questions, make sentences using formsBe sure to bring all highlighters, a pencil, and your core reading book to the test.

for Tuesday, 1/6: eighty pages of core reading

Announcements: 

December extra credit poem may be recited during morning break or conference period the week of 12/15-12/19.
