¡ Hola y Bienvenidos ! Spanish here at Shady Side Academy Junior School is preK-5, making the language program an integral part of EVERY child's education. In this class, at every grade level, the emphasis is on both language acquisition and cultural understanding. Our lessons, games and activities all help to open a new world to our students, one filled with new traditions, exotic sights, sounds, smells, and of course, Spanish! |
Práctica, Práctica, Práctica..... Parents and students can practice their Spanish at home with some Spanish children's books! The pictures in children's books make comprehension quick and easy, and choosing a book that is already well known to the reader allows them to discover word meaning on their own. Check Barnes and Noble and Amazon.com for a good selection. One of my favorites is “El árbol generoso” by Shel Silverstein I also collect Dr. Seuss en español. I think the best translated book for young learners is “Huevos Verdes con Jamón” (Green eggs and Ham). It is repetitive and a little less wordy than some of the others which allow the reader to comprehend the story even if not every word is understood. |
Check this out.... Here are some great wepages to help students and parents practice their Spanish ! http://www.languageguide.org/im/alpha/esp/ - this site helps you pronouce the Spanish alfabet perfectly! The Audio files are easy to use and quick (you just pass your mouse over the words and letters to hear the pronunciation!) A good review for all!
