Students Honored in Technology Invention Competition
Shady Side Academy sophomores Leo Liu and Helena Wang recently earned an Honorable Mention award in the Student Inventors' Competition at the 2017 Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo, held in Hershey, Pa. in February.
Liu and Wang made it to the final round of the competition and earned the award for their invention of an Automated Mailbox. The invention used Arduino circuits and a mobile app that would let people remotely know if there was mail in their mailbox. The students designed and built the invention along with programming the Arduino to detect the presence of mail and communicate to the app.
Congratulations, Leo and Helena!
