Junior School Obstacle Course Fundraiser Raises $500+

spider webAs a follow-up to the Let's Move Pittsburgh Grant she received last year, Shady Side Academy Junior School physical education teacher Karen DiFiore and the Junior School Parents' Association partnered to host a Healthy Habits Obstacle Course fundraiser on Friday, June 2, raising more than $500. Kids had fun on elevated balance beams, getting through a spider web and maneuvering through many more obstacles!

In 2016-2017, DiFiore used the $1,000 Let's Move Grant to purchase Wobble Chairs, Balance Boards and Learning Ladders for classroom teachers to increase students' active learning time. Money raised from this obstacle course fundraiser will be used to purchase additional active learning equipment for classrooms for 2017-2018.
