Shady Side Academy junior Felicia Devorris, who most recently performed as Wednesday Addams in the Senior School musical The Addams Family, has been accepted to New York University's prestigious Tisch Summer High School Drama Program.

The four-week program, which enrolls students from around the world, provides intensive training in dancing, singing and acting, with an emphasis on musical theatre as a collaborative art form. Students are challenged to learn and grow as artists, see several Broadway shows and have access to New York City's incomparable theatre resources. Each week students receive 28 hours of conservatory training and also take a New York Theatre seminar with professional actors, directors, designers, stage managers and faculty as guests.

Devorris believes her experiences at SSA helped her to obtain this amazing opportunity, including drama training from Dana Hardy-Bingham, musical training from Dr. Dan Brill, participation in the school plays and musicals, and last summer's trip to the American High School Theatre Festival in Scotland.
