Girls Soccer Advances to PIAA Finals, Boys Soccer Ends Season in Semis

The Shady Side Academy girls and boys soccer teams both competed in the PIAA semifinals at Mars Area High School on Tuesday, Nov. 15. The girls' team won, advancing to the PIAA Championship for the first time in program history, while the boys' team wrapped up the season with a close loss.

In a rematch of the WPIAL Championship, the SSA girls' team faced Greensburg Central Catholic in the PIAA Class A semifinals. Just as she did in the WPIAL title game, senior Eliza Cochran scored the game's only goal to lift SSA to the 1-0 win. With 13 consecutive wins, Shady Side (19-3) will face District 3 champion Fairfield for the PIAA title at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 18 at Hershey Park Stadium. The girls' team is coached by Mary Lynch.
