Girls Soccer Advances to PIAA Finals
PIAA semifinals

On Tuesday, Nov. 14, the Shady Side Academy girls' soccer team ousted rival Greensburg Central Catholic in the PIAA semifinals to advance to the state finals for the second year in a row.

SSA shut out the Centurions, 3-0, in the Class A match-up at Hampton High School. Freshman Melissa Riggins scored on free kick 29 minutes into the game, and junior Krystyna Rytel earned a pair of goals in the second half to secure the win. The victory was sweet revenge for SSA's 1-0 loss to GCC in the WPIAL finals.

Shady Side (16-4) will compete against District 3's Camp Hill in the PIAA finals on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. in Hershey, Pa. SSA is seeking its first state title after finishing as the PIAA runner-up last year.

Good luck to Head Coach Leah Powers and the team in the state championship in Hershey!
