On Sunday, Feb. 19, the Shady Side Academy girls prep ice hockey team captured its third straight Women's Interscholastic Hockey League of the Mid-Atlantic (WIHLMA) Championship as SSA defeated The Hill School 1-0 in the WIHLMA title game, at The Hill School in Pottstown, Pa.
Sophomore Hannah Price scored the only goal of the game on a slap shot from the point. Sophomore goalie Gwyn Philips earned her eighth straight shutout in net, remaining unscored upon in WIHLMA play this season.
SSA defeated Princeton Day School 3-0 in the semifinals on Saturday to advance to the championship game.In 2016-2017, SSA outscored its opponents 54-2 and finished with an undefeated league record for the second straight year. SSA has not lost a WIHLMA game since January 2015.
