The Shady Side Academy girls and boys prep ice hockey teams are both heading into league playoffs this weekend.
The girls' team will travel to The Hill School in Pottstown, Pa., to compete in the Women's Interscholastic Hockey League of the Mid-Atlantic (WIHLMA) championship tournament from Friday Feb. 17, through Sunday, Feb. 19. The girls are seeking their third straight WIHLMA title and have an undefeated league record heading into the playoffs. The team is coached by Kate Binnie.
The boys team will host the Midwest Prep Hockey League (MPHL) playoffs at SSA's Roy McKnight Hockey Center this weekend, Feb. 17-19. SSA will face Lake Forest Academy in the first round on Friday, Feb. 17, at 2:30 p.m.. The semifinals will be played on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 3:45 and 6 p.m., and the championship game will be played on Sunday, Feb. 19, at noon. The team is coached by Jonathan Johnson.
