The Kindergarten teachers started a new activity this year to introduce adults in our community to the kindergarten children. Once a week or so, we invite a volunteer "Secret Reader" to read to the children. After the story, the children ask the "Secret Reader" five questions to get to know them better. This week's "Secret Reader" was Academy President Tom Southard!
Mr. Southard read "Big Al" by Andrew Clements Yoshi.
It's about an unusual looking fish, yet very friendly. No one likes him due
to his looks. In the end, he saves the day and everyone becomes his friend.

The children have enjoyed meeting and learning about those adults who help keep us safe and help us to learn at Shady Side Academy. Our past "Secret Readers" have been Mrs. Little (Head of School), Mr. Arthur (school security guard), and Ms. Keller ( first grade teacher).
